What is Holistic Psychotherapy?
Holistic Psychotherapy looks at the person as a whole. It considers the person’s mind, body, spirit and how these affect one another.
It utilizes traditional methods of psychotherapy, as well as non-traditional therapies of holistic healing with the purpose of creating a fuller integration and the deepest level of healing possible.
The traditional approach includes elements of traditional psychotherapy such as psychoanalytic/psychodynamic, cognitive/behavioral, developmental, educational and family systems therapy.
Non-Traditional therapies are based on a variety of traditions, which tap into different levels of mind-body-spirit healing. The holistic methods are taken from a broad range of traditions: trans-personal psychology, existentialism, subtle energy medicine, hypnotherapy, creative arts therapies, regression therapy and guided imagery. All therapies have a spiritual component, which utilizes different levels of consciousness and awareness.
Tools used in sessions:
o Listening & Talk Therapy
o Sub-personalities Mapping
o Experiential Psychotherapy (art therapy and other methods)
o Original Pain Work
o Inner Child Work
o Psychosomatic Therapy
o Focusing Technique
o Childhood Defenses Exploration
o Guided Imagery
o Regression, Meditation & Visualization
Initial Discovery Session is 90 min long. We will begin with you telling me about your concerns or problems. In addition, we will go through the questionnaire exploring your general history, childhood, school experience, relationship history and current data. Based on this session I will create suggested initial treatment plan. We will discuss the plan in our second session and implement with your consent.
The consequent sessions will be based on the unique origins you are seeking guidance, hence the tools I use will differ from client to client. The therapy is not about emotional support even though there are elements of it. In fact, most of the sessions are about other things. It is very important to discover the internal process, your inner dialogue of how the problem is created. I may ask questions that you do not totally understand at first and with time you will gain a level of self-awareness that will lead to new realizations.
My method is largely client-centered: I have the questions, and you have the answers. We work at your own pace, as a team, in finding keys to your personal success.
All information received from you is confidential and will not be disclosed to any other person(s). (Note: we are required to share information about child abuse with state bodies which oversee such matters).
Initial Discovery Session (90 min) $160
60 Minute session $ 100
90 Minute Session $140
Couples Therapy(90 min) $150
Currently, holistic psychotherapy is not covered by most insurance companies due to the fact that the College of Registered Psychotherapists and Registered Mental Health Therapists is in the process of formation. The process is expected to be completed in 2015 and psychotherapy could be covered by insurance benefits issued through your work at that time. For more information about the College please visit their website at www.cprmhto.on.ca
My Short Bio
In 2009, I graduated from Transformational Arts College where I studied to become a Holistic Psychotherapist. Choosing this profession is a tribute to my son Mark who tragically passed away. What emerged from the immense pain of loss was a strong desire to be of service to others and to share the many insights I have gained through the profoundness of my experience.
In addition, I am a passionate advocate of natural living. I believe there is no need to re-invent the wheel and that everything a human being needs already exists in nature; it is therefore unnecessary to fabricate but rather to be educated about our natural environment and the resources and remedies that can be derived from it.
I had a vision; why not combine my two passions – psychotherapy and the advocacy and education of organic living? In September, 2009 HHC Centre was open in Maple, Ontario. Our mission is to provide drug-free, integrated natural health care, addressing all aspects of wellness – body, mind and spirit.
I am a graduate of Transformational Arts College in Toronto, ON. My diploma certifies completion of the following:
· Spiritual Psychotherapy Training Program
· Discovering the Total Self Program
· Spiritual Direction Program
· Registered in Human Relations (R.I.H.R.)
With The Canadian Examining Board of Health Care Practitioners since May 2009
